2014 was a great year for the Conclave and certainly the beginning of a long journey that will continue in the coming year. As memory fails and one day we may forget some things, we decided to do a little retrospective of this fantastic year, the year we made contact!
first quarter
The year began with intense and unending work to organize and assemble the midgards for delivery to crowdfunding supporters. As most of you know, we had a lot of problems with the graphics that produced the game, which resulted in infinitely more work than expected and delays in the delivery of the games.
When the games were sent to supporters, we looked forward to public acceptance. And we were surprised, as the game was extremely well accepted and the receptivity of the players was above expectations. The game was highly rated in the ludopedia and soon the championships would begin all over Brazil.
second quarter
That was the moment of midgard! With the games being received by supporters and with sales on our website and to shopkeepers, the game began to be disseminated among the community. gamer from Brazil. Championships were held in Rio de Janeiro, Minas Gerais and São Paulo. The game was presented in events from north to south and the system of national ranking, with official rules for championships, was implemented.
At the same time, the Conclave was undergoing very important changes. Its membership was restructured and we were getting ready for what was to come in the face of the various negotiations with international publishers that we had already been doing.
In May, we opened crowdfunding for the Nosferatu, our first international licensing. The light, fun and very dynamic game enchanted the Brazilian public. In the event Castle of Pieces, in Rio de Janeiro, the game set a new record, remaining on the table from the first to the last hour of the event uninterruptedly! The crowdfunding of Nosferatu ended on 01/07/2014 and was very successful.
In the meantime, we were finalizing a negotiation that had lasted a year (and that's not an expression!). Finally, on a memorable night, we were able to say that I was ALL DOMINATED! We had just received the files from the dominion for translation and closed the license of the game in Portuguese! Certainly, a milestone for the Brazilian gaming market. The official announcement was made in a hangout live with Jack The Explainer it's the Nerds Overview on 5/29/2014 and from then on, everything was mastered! 🙂
Third quarter
It all started with the rush for our participation in the Anime Friends / EIRPG. Stand assembly, preparation of material, banners, promotional materials, tickets, accommodation, supporters… in short, a hell of a lot of work, which was well worth it! It was eight days of work and fun! We were fortunate to have friends from Ace Studios and the opportunity to meet with friends from Funbox Games, gives Galapagos Games and gives becoming. And, of course, we found great friends again, like the usual companions of the Nerds Overview, Karla from The Raven, the great Alexandre Honorato and so many others that we would need a new post just to mention them!
In Anime Friends itself, we made two very important announcements for the Conclave: we were getting ready to go to Internationale Spieltage 14, in Essen, Germany; and we were bringing a new game – illegal, by Christophe Boelinger.
But both were just announcements of events that would only take place in the fourth quarter. The big event of the third quarter was the acquisition by Conclave of GameBar board! Can you imagine a company that is a publishing house and a bar? Well, we are the first in the world (probably!). O GameBar board, affectionately called by us TGB, is a fun bar, a place where people go to drink and eat like any other bar, but also to play games! With a collection of more than 100 different games, not counting the games of the Conclave itself and running from Tuesday to Saturday, the TGB has become the home of Conclave and, of course, Joga Conclave, the publisher's monthly gaming event. There's not much to talk about TGB, you have to come and meet the bar! For us, it was love at first sight and a place where we spread gaming culture, reinforce old friendships daily and make new friends all the time!
Fourth trimester
The year was intense, but the end of 2014 had all its intensity multiplied and concentrated!
October started with Illegal presale in an unusual way and was followed by our preparations for Essen.
THE Internationale Spieltage 14 it is a separate chapter. We were impressed with Germany, we were impressed with the German people, we were impressed with the fair! The biggest game fair in the world is even bigger than we could have imagined. These were intense days, with appointments and counting on the clock for the dozens of meetings we held. We had the opportunity to personally meet those responsible for the Rough Mode (Nosferatu) and meet with members of the playfully (illegal). And, of course, we meet our new future partners!
It was a lot and we would need a new post just to talk about the fair. But we talked a lot about it in this hangout (part 1 and part 2) and you can see our nearly 300 photos on here.
In November we made several announcements of what we are planning for 2015. You can find out about these announcements in the Hangout mentioned above or wait for our next post! In November, we also started the pre-sale of dominion and we were surprised by the pre-sale of games from Masqueoca publisher – Camel Up, drake and keyflower!
and then the Nosferatu was cleared by customs and its shipments made!
Ufa! Didn't you think so?!... it's because there's nothing written about the backstage... 🙂
And so, 2014 comes to an end. We are certain that we accomplished our missions in the year, but even more certain that this year was just the beginning. We have a lot of work ahead of us, a lot to organize, dozens of games to translate and boxes and more boxes to receive, pack and ship to your home!
2015 awaits us… because 2014 was just the year we made contact!
A happy new year to everyone!
