And the start was given for the first official cycle of dominion. We are now starting the saga to find out who are the best players in Brazil, and we are here to tell you a little more about how things are going to work.
The complete cycle consists of 3 types of tournaments: QTs (qualifiers) – which are organized by Conclave's partner stores, all of which are eligible and authorized to participate. These QTs start now in March in several cities across the country and all players, experienced or not, are more than welcome to participate. The idea is to gain experience, meet new players and build your gaming community!
After the QTs, we will hold the regional tournaments, which should take place in 5 different venues, one in each region of Brazil: Southeast, South, Northeast, Midwest and North. There are still no dates set for the regionals, but they should take place between mid and end of May.
At the end of June we will have our National Dominion Tournament, when we will find out who will be the Brazilian representative who will compete in the World Cup at GenCon, in August!
Now you must be wondering if it is necessary to rank, how the ranking works and so on. Come on:
ranking
As we already informed, we have an official software for the tournaments, in which it will be possible for all the organizers to impute the players' scores, and from there we will have a national ranking. The ranking in the ranking will depend, not only on the score, but on the attendance of the player in the tournaments (that is, it doesn't matter that you always come first, if you only participate in 1 tournament per month. If another player is more assiduous, you will have a higher overall score).
software
We still haven't made the software available due to problems with the system – it's no use offering a system that is showing bugs. Therefore, to avoid inconvenience, we are advising organizers to use other software used in card game tournaments. They must submit the results of all tournaments to the Conclave Tournament Team, which will later include the results in the official software. In other words, no one will be harmed.
The tournament system is now available, click on the link below to access it and create your account:
Classification and participation in tournaments:
ANY player will be able to participate in all tournaments, it is not necessary to qualify in the QTs to play the regionals etc. We want to move the player community, and the more people the better. So the only question is regarding the score and the Bye.
The first placed in the regionals will be entitled to a Bye in the National Tournament. What this means – the top finishers will be exempt from playing the first round of the national tournament, and will not be eliminated in the first place, starting their play directly in the second round.
award
The official (cycle) tournaments will have official awards produced by Conclave with the endorsement of the foreign publisher that owns the game.
Anyway, we encourage all stores and groups to organize tournaments even if they are unofficial, as they will count towards the ranking and help the community to train and meet new players. That is, the store that organizes monthly tournaments, for example, will be contributing to the overall good placement of its players.
In this case, the award may be offered by the organizer, and the Conclave will do its best to provide all necessary support.
Structure
In order for tournaments to run smoothly, we encourage players to bring their copies of the game to tournaments. Over time, we will do our best to ensure that all stores have copies available and dedicated to the tournaments, but there are variables that prevent us from stocking them all now.
Therefore, we count on the collaboration of the community to help us develop a good competitive scenario in the country, now in this first moment. We encourage the involvement of organizers and players in the development of this scenario, and we are open to suggestions and ideas, after all, it should be something beneficial and fun for the main stakeholders: You!
Soon we will disclose more dates and locations of the first tournaments, but the initial calendar can be checked here: (note: we ask you to confirm the dates of the tournaments with the stores to avoid inconvenience):
