As they say, horseshoe is good luck. So let's go horseshoe!

Many people came to point out an alleged error on the game board Western Legends and some other possible problems. After checking, we would like to clarify some points. Let's go to them:

Horseshoe Icon on the Board

Although we have received a lot of emails informing us that the horseshoe icon on the board would be wrong and that the barrel icon would be correct, we would like to inform you that, in fact, the correct icon is really the horseshoe.

In the first editions of the game, it was published with the Barrel icon, however, in its most recent update, Kolossal Games decided to modify the iconography so that the game has improved compatibility with the expansions. See below for information from Kolossal:

Some backers have asked about the horse shoe icons used on the two general store locations on the play mat. This new icon is not a mistake, but rather a decision made after the printing process of Ante Up to help further differentiate the general store and trading post locations. While these two location types are functionally the same, we felt we would further distinguish them with a new icon that was applied to the play mat, as well as all future editions of the Western Legends base game board, general stand, rules, and player aid. There is no difference in game play, just the icon. Still, some of you may be asking how this change can be applied to current owners of the game?

After the new year, Kolossal will launch a brand new expansion for Western Legends. Blood Money. This new expansion encompasses feedback from our fans since the game hit shelves, as well as a plethora of new features (…)

In addition, we will provide a small sticker pack to be applied to your board and general store stand, as well as a brand new player aid with corrected icons and all of the new options! We will have more information on Blood Money closer to the new year, but hope you all enjoy this sneak peek today!

As you can see, owners of older editions of the game will be given stickers to stick on their boards so they can replace the barrel icons with the horseshoe icons. In your game, you will not need stickers.

What happened in the Brazilian edition is that, as the saying goes, we change the tire while the car is running. Kolossal and Matagot sent us the updated board file, but not the updated rulebook and reference guide. Thus, the rules of our edition came out with the wrong iconographic reference. So as the reference guide.

To quickly solve this problem, we publish in pdf, here on our website, the updated rulebook and reference guide, with a quick review to correct some flaws and with the correct iconography.

These .pdf files solve the issue, but in any case, we are checking with Kolossal and Matagot the possibility of reprinting these files and sending them to the buyers so that there is no doubt in the game. Also, as you will notice, some images of the manual are in English. This is because Matagot sent us closed files (which cannot be edited). We've already requested the open files from them.

The Man in Black Rules Card

Unfortunately, even after the review, there was a typo in the reference letter (rules) of the Man in black. It was just the exchange of a word, which changes the gameplay.

On the front of the card that was sent in the game is written: “…reveal 3 cards from the top of the deck of the Man in Black...", when the correct is "...reveal 3 cards from the top of the deck of fight…”

We have already made the corrected letter available in pdf for download:

We will replace this card, as its error directly interferes with the gameplay of the game. We will do a thorough check of the entire game and if there are any other cards with the same problem (interfering with gameplay), we will replace them in the same way.

General Warehouse Assembly

Some people have questioned the lack of a General Store assembly guide in the game. In fact, putting the piece together can be a bit of a complicated puzzle.

However, it's been a few years since Western Legends editions in several countries around the world haven't had a printed assembly guide. The reason is simple, once assembled, nobody disassembles the Warehouse and with that, the guide ends up becoming garbage. Concerned with the environment and with another extra cost in the game, the international orientation has been to make the assembly guide available online, in pdf or to make videos teaching how to assemble. We already have both. The current video is courtesy of 3DU's channel, but soon we will have an official Conclave, very didactic. We also inserted a video from the Mesa Secreta channel.

Final considerations

Unfortunately, we are unable to specify, at this time, when we will make the replacements. We are already in contact with Matagot and the Chinese game factory to get this straightened out and resolved as soon as possible. As you all know, we are going through a difficult time, due to the coronavirus, and it is very difficult to predict anything at this time. However, we hope that the material published here in pdf can help in your games. But we want to reassure everyone that these details will be resolved.

About the general quality of the game, we understand that the production is excellent and following the standard and compatibility with the international versions of the product. Indeed, Western Legends it was produced in China, together with the American/English, French and German editions. All components follow the same quality standard, with the same types, letter sizes, colors and models. If you, by any chance, have the possibility of acquiring some international expansion, before she was released by us here, rest assured, apart from the language, it is fully compatible.

Finally, we want to say that you who bought Western Legends has in hand one of the most incredible, immersive and innovative games of recent times. A fun game, with countless possibilities and one of those that makes you want to change from one game to another. We suggest putting on that classic old west soundtrack and getting ready to become a Wanted by law or a Delegate of Justice!

Because in the end the important thing is to be a Legend of the West!
